In the future, integrated comms. are set to become the norm, as it is now recognised that comms. unit stuck on the side of helmets can affect the ability of a helmet to protect the rider.
The 22-06 approved Arai Quantic now has its own, dedicated comms. facility. It is made by Sena. Cardo has its devotees, but with Shoei, Schuberth and now Arai working exclusively with Sena, this seems to be the brand in the ascendancy. The comms also fits really well in to the Arai Rapide helmet.
The ASC10 is not integrated in the way that units are for Shoei and Schuberth, but it has been designed to fit the Quantic and has a particularly low profile. Rather like the new UCOM systems, the ASC10 has small stick-on control panel that adheres to the left hand side of the shell. The battery and brains tuck neatly into the neck roll. The button microphone is also very discrete and out of the way.
The unit is based on the technology embodied in the Sena 10S. That means Bluetooth 4.1 and Advanced Noise Control. The talk distance will be up to a mile, and you will be able to talk with up to three other riders. Obviously, you can take phone calls and listen to music. You can also share music with other riders. As with most comms. systems, the fine tuning is best done via the Sena app..
