This is the first ladies Bering trouser that we have featured. And, we do like the look and feel and fit of these pants. For ladies, motorcycle trousers can be very difficult to get a decent fit. Well, these Lady Alkor pants are a wee bit different. Their USP is that they are made from a soft shell fabric, a fabric that incorporates four-way stretch. And that makes them just about the most comfortable and best fitting motorcycle pants that you will ever come across. You might think that you could wear them as an over-trouser, and if you wore skinny jeans or leggings, you perhaps could; but they are designed to be worn on their own, over a mid-layer perhaps if you need extra warmth.
The Alkors have a waterproof membrane, but what you need to understand is that every membrane is a trade off between waterproofing and breathability. And the membrane in the Alkor is one that emphasises breathability. Yes these trousers will keep you dry but, dependant on how heavy the rain is, only for a few hours at most. This is not the trouser for the long-distance commuter or the world traveller. These pants will work well for the person who has a 20 to 30 minute commute. They will work fine for the occasional, weekend rider. They will work for the kind of person who doesn’t go out in the rain a lot. But this is not the pant you want to be wearing in three or four or more hours of rain.
In terms of features, you get an elasticated waist with a Velcro adjustable belt. There is a stretch panel at the back of the waist to give a good fit over female hips and bum. There are three external pockets and two zipped vents. At the bottom of the legs, there are zips and a gussets. The leg fits quite narrowly, but with the stretch in the material, you’ll get them over a Daytona-style boot without any kind of problem. You also get a connecting zip that will enable the pants to be zipped into any Bering jacket.
This is a CE approved pant, albeit only at the A level. There are more protective pants on the market, but these are still proper motorcycle trousers. They come equipped with knee armour included and pockets for hip armour which can be added.
In recent years there have been a lot of protective leggings for ladies but they have all been non waterproof and rather thick. These have the comfort, stretch and fit of a legging combined with the weatherproofing and waterproofing of a more traditional motorcycle trouser, a winning combination.
