The Stormsock is a full-height, waterproof sock. So the question has to be, who needs a waterproof sock when most boots come equipped with a waterproof lining? Well, they are sometimes used by those who ride off-road, and who will occasionally find themselves fording streams and riding through deep water. This can be especially important if you’re wearing plastic, off-road boots that have no membrane. They can obviously also make a non-waterproof boot waterproof. And could be worn by inside a short boot to make them as waterproof as something taller.
The socks are heavy, winter-style socks. The outer material comprises Nylon and Elastane. Sandwiched between the outer and the inner sock is a Hydrotech membrane. The inner sock contains 63% Merino wool for better wicking through to the membrane. The sock has a heavy Terry footbed for added comfort, and is infused with Lycra throughout for a stretch fit.
The Stormsock is about as technical as a sock gets, employing just about all of Bridgedale’s proprietary technologies such as Flat Toe Seams, Shock Zones, Performance Fit, Elasticated Arch and 4-Way Stretch. This is a heck of a sock. In the extreme cold and the extreme wet, there is no sock that is going to keep you drier and warmer.
