The Katana pant is made from a 1.2mm cowhide. The leather is pretty soft and the jeans are going to be easy to wear and comfortable to wander around in. They are still, however, rated AAA under EN17092.
The pants fit quite slim. You get padded baffles across the knee that are more about aesthetics than function. In the back, below the waistline, you get some concertina-stretch banding for comfort. You get the same down the sides of the thighs.
There is level 1 armour in the knees and hips with a small amount of adjustability at the knee. Having said that the trousers come in four leg lengths so should be possible to get the knee armour in the correct position.
The Katanas are really designed to be worn inside a pair of taller boots, somehwat like a racing leather pant. So they should fit tight at the ankle and a bit shorter. Many people these days we think might wear them with a shorter ankle boot so might need to wear them a little longer!
Overall, we really like the look and feel of these leather pants. There are not many classic looking leather jeans out there – most of the manufacturers put a slider on any slimline leather pant – so these might be just what we were looking for.
